Terms of Service

Overview

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Quippe ("Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Quippe. By creating an account, you represent that you are 13 or older. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create accounts. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will terminate it and delete the associated data.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their permission, or use another person’s account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
• Record or submit content that includes the personal information of others without their consent
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the encryption or security features
• Use automated means to access or scrape the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to access another user’s journal data

4. Your Content

You own your journal entries. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your content solely to provide the Service (transcription, AI summary generation, encrypted storage). We do not claim any ownership of your journal content.

You are responsible for the content you record. Do not record content that is illegal, defamatory, or that infringes the rights of others.

5. Not a Medical or Therapeutic Service

Quippe is a personal journaling tool. The AI-generated reflections and summaries are informational and for personal reflection only. They are not medical advice, mental health treatment, therapy, or a substitute for professional support. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please seek help from a qualified professional or contact an emergency service.

6. AI-Generated Content

Summaries and reflections are generated by an AI model (Claude by Anthropic) and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your situation. We make no guarantees about the quality, accuracy, or fitness of AI-generated content.

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uptime. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, or any part of it, at any time with reasonable notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime or discontinuation.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your journal content will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS OR $10.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we are incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
